The legal and banking foundation that makes everything above it possible.

Powers is the bottom layer of the AVATARé framework. It is not a platform and it is not a product. It is the legal authority, banking relationships, and regulatory infrastructure that makes every AVATARé platform, product, and program legally and operationally viable.

Legal and banking foundation

What the Powers layer is

Most companies discover these requirements after they have already built. AVATARé built them in from the start.

Operating in financial services, insurance, and benefits markets requires more than good software. It requires the legal authority to hold funds on behalf of others, the banking relationships to move money across regulated rails, and the compliance infrastructure to do it in every jurisdiction where products are deployed.

These are not features that get added later. They are the preconditions for operating in these markets at all. The Powers layer is how AVATARé secured those preconditions before deploying any product, so every product built on top of it inherits them by default.

Why this matters to partners and vendors.

When a vendor, partner, or software provider works with AVATARé, they are working with a company that already has the sponsor banking relationship, the fiduciary authority, the trustee designation, the money movement infrastructure, and the lending powers in place. Those are not problems they need to solve. AVATARé already solved them. That is what makes the partnership meaningful and the products deployable.

The five powers

Each power enables a specific category of compliant operation.

Sponsor Banking

A relationship with a sponsor bank that provides the regulatory foundation for card issuance, money movement, and deposit products. Without sponsor banking, no financial infrastructure above it can operate compliantly inside card networks or banking rails. This is the first power and the one everything else depends on.

Fiduciary Powers

The legal authority to hold and manage funds on behalf of others. Required for any product that handles third-party money, including settlement funds, insurance disbursements, athletic stipends, and benefit payments. Without fiduciary authority, holding other people's money creates legal exposure that no contract can fully resolve.

Trustee Powers

The authority to act as trustee in financial and legal arrangements. Enables AVATARé products to operate in settlement, legal payout, and benefit distribution contexts where a neutral third party must hold and manage funds before disbursement. Settled IQ's AOC model depends directly on trustee authority.

Money Movement Powers

The infrastructure and authority to move money across ACH, wire, and card networks on a predictable, compliant schedule. This is what makes Benefits Paid's fixed-timeline disbursement model possible and what allows TeamSpend to move funds between organizations and individuals without routing through consumer payment apps.

Lending Powers

The authority to originate or facilitate lending products within the AVATARé stack. Extends the range of financial products that can be deployed on the platform to include credit, financing, and advance payment structures. Positions AVATARé to enter lending-adjacent markets as the product roadmap expands.

Why the Powers layer matters

Building in regulated markets without the right legal and banking foundation is not just slow. It is a liability.

Most companies building in financial services, insurance, or benefits discover the Powers requirements after they have already shipped a product. At that point, the cost of getting compliant is measured in years and legal exposure, not months and configuration work.

AVATARé built the Powers layer before deploying any product because every market the company operates in requires it. That decision is what makes it possible to deploy new products and enter new markets without rebuilding the legal and banking foundation each time.

For partners and vendors, this means the compliance work is already done. The foundation is already there. You build on top of it.

Work with us

The foundation is already built. Let us talk about what you put on top of it.

If you are a vendor, software provider, or partner operating in a regulated market, the Powers layer is the reason working with AVATARé is different from working with a standard software vendor.
